This policy explains what personal information we collect through billhelper.com.au, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, along with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth).
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, mobile number and email address.
- Enquiry details: your postcode, whether you own your home, whether you have solar installed, your approximate quarterly electricity bill, and your installation timeframe.
- Technical information: device type, referring page, and advertising campaign identifiers (such as UTM parameters and click IDs) that tell us which ad or link brought you to our site.
We only collect this information when you enter it into our enquiry form or arrive via a tracked link. We do not collect government identifiers, financial account details or health information, and we ask that you don't submit information about other people without their consent.
Why we collect it
- To assess your enquiry against current government rebate program criteria.
- To match your enquiry with accredited solar installers who service your area.
- To contact you about your enquiry by phone, SMS or email.
- To measure and improve our advertising and website.
Who we share it with
Installer partners. When you submit an enquiry, your details are provided to a maximum of three accredited solar installers matched to your location and enquiry type, so they can contact you and prepare a quote. This is the core of our service and the reason you submit an enquiry.
Referral partners. Some enquiries are fulfilled through established referral networks that connect enquiries with accredited installers. Where this occurs, the network receives your enquiry details for that sole purpose.
Service providers. We use third-party providers for website hosting, form and data processing, spreadsheet and workflow tools, and advertising analytics (including Meta and Google advertising tools). They process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone beyond the matched installers and referral partners described above, and we never share it for purposes unrelated to your enquiry.
Advertising and cookies
Our site uses advertising pixels and analytics (such as the Meta Pixel) to measure which ads lead to enquiries and to improve our campaigns. These tools may use cookies or similar identifiers. You can limit ad tracking through your browser settings and through the ad preference tools offered by Meta and Google.
How we store and protect it
Enquiry data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored in access-controlled systems. We retain enquiry information only for as long as needed to fulfil your enquiry, meet our legal obligations, and maintain business records, after which it is deleted or de-identified. Some of our service providers may store data on servers located outside Australia; where that occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable privacy protections apply.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
- Deletion: you can ask us to delete your enquiry information at any time.
- Opt out of contact: you can ask us, or any installer we've matched you with, to stop contacting you. We action opt-outs within 5 business days.
